Create Oreo mummy’s using candy eyes, pretzel sticks and Oreo dirt, serve in a cupcake tin over vanilla and crushed Oreo pudding

INGREDIENTS: (makes 8 Oreo Mummies)

– 8 Oreo cookies for the mummies
– 4 Oreo cookies for the crumble
– Plastic zipper bag
– Rolling pin
– 2 kitchen towels
– Package store bought Vanilla pudding (Great Value is available at Walmart) OR   if you choose to make your own here (even better) this is my FAVORITE vanilla pudding recipe below…
– Cupcake tins
– 1 container (6.4 oz.) white decorating icing
– 16 Mini candy eyes

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Make your pudding according to the directions on the packet OR make your own pudding from scratch below:

The easiest Vanilla pudding recipe:

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine salt
  • 2 1/4 cups whole milk
  • 3 large egg yolks, lightly beaten
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 8 lollipop sticks
  • Place a mesh strainer over a 4-cup measuring cup or bowl with a spout and set aside.
  • Combine the sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a medium saucepan and whisk until incorporated. While constantly whisking, slowly drizzle in 1/4 cup of the milk until smooth. Whisk in the egg yolks and remaining milk.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, whisking often, until the pudding begins to thicken and just starts to bubble, about 5 to 6 minutes. Reduce the heat to medium low and switch to a rubber spatula. Stir constantly, scraping the bottom and sides of the pan, until the pudding makes visible ribbons when drizzled over the surface, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in the butter and vanilla extract until the butter is melted and completely incorporated. Pour the pudding through the prepared strainer. Immediately transfer it to 4 (4-ounce) ramekins or resealable containers. Lightly press a piece of plastic wrap on top of the pudding to prevent a skin from forming. Chill in the refrigerator until set, about 2 hours.
  1. Put Oreo cookies in a plastic zipper bag. Put a kitchen towel underneath and one on top of the bag and use a rolling pin to crush the cookies into a cookie powder
  1. Mix the Oreo cookie crumble with the vanilla yogurt and put in cupcake tins
  1. Top with Oreo cookie crumble
  1. Put a lollipop stick through each Oreo
  1. Use flat decorating tip (included with container of decorating icing) to pipe icing in strips over cookies to resemble mummies as shown in photo.
  1. Add candy eyes to Oreo
  1. Refrigerate until icing is firm
  1. Serve standing up in the Pudding cookie concoction
